Kerry Thorpe poster

We have a very exciting new poster campaign out, starring the gorgeous Kerry Thorpe.

19-year-old Kerry has just two years left to live without a double lung transplant. She is currently working hard to gain weight, to enable her to go on the active waiting list for new lungs. In this bold new campaign, our fabulous Kerry is featured on two posters, the first with the tongue-in-cheek statement “I’d give you one” and the second emblazoned with the eye-catching header “would you give her one?”

LLTGL's Chief Executive Emily explains: “we wanted to create something that would capture people’s attention and make them start a discussion. Kerry has been on the organ donor register since she was 16, so is featured as both a person in need and a potential organ donor. Three people die every single day waiting for a transplant; it’s a shocking statistic that exists because there just aren’t enough people signed up to the organ donor register.”

Kerry says “I need a double lung transplant because I have end-stage Cystic Fibrosis which means I am now at the stage where nothing can improve my lungs anymore. I have frequent intravenous antibiotics to try and maintain my lung function, but it is just 20% of a normal person’s lung capacity making my life very difficult. I can't climb the stairs, I use oxygen overnight and when unwell, I use it 24 hours a day, I can't walk far at all and have to use a wheelchair.

To me, anything that might make people sign the donor register is worth it. I think the campaign is fantastic and will get people talking, hopefully in turn getting more organ donors.  I really hope the posters will make an impact and get people to sign up; even if a handful of people sign up as a result of these posters that could be many lives, potentially saved.”
